Rev. Richard Seah has been a pioneer in providing counselling services for problem gamblers in Singapore since the early 2000s. Recognising the growing need for addiction support, he founded Ascending Hope Community Services in 2016 to expand outreach to those seeking help. Key aspects of his work include debt restructuring partnerships to alleviate financial stress, working with organisations like Credit Counselling Singapore (CCS) and moneylenders. Personalised counselling and a steps-based programme to achieve lasting recovery in a safe and confidential environment. Befriender programme that provides mentorship for the recovery journey.
As a certified counsellor, he has helped many individuals undergo change and conversion, away from addiction. He strongly believes that family support is crucial to addiction recovery and approaches counselling holistically, beyond the individual level, reaching out to help seekers and their families. His extensive experience and compassionate approach have made him a respected figure in Singapore's problem gambling recovery community.
His previous roles include serving as a senior counsellor at Blessed Grace Social Services Ltd and was the founding member and Vice-Chairman of The Silver Lining Community Services Ltd.
